Electric Market: Ranger PHEV Is Being Exclusively Produced Locally for Export
The Ford Motor Company is investing tens of millions more in its Silverton assembly plant following the R5.2 billion investment it announced in 2023 for the production of the Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
The investment will be for an extension to the paint plant and water recycling project at the paint plant.
This emerged at a function on Wednesday where Ford South Africa announced it had begun full-scale production of the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid at the plant.
The Ranger PHEV is being exclusively produced in SA for the global export market. This makes the Silverton plant the global production hub for the Ranger PHEV.
The timing of its launch in SA has not yet been confirmed.
