Evergreen Le Clos set for one last hurrah

Whenever it seems Chad le Clos is done, he proves we've given up on him too soon, and at the age of 33, he is still pushing hard in the pool.

Le Clos hasn't quite achieved what we thought he might when he stunned American legend Michael Phelps to win 200m butterfly gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, at the tender age of 20.

That’s not to say he hasn't found success.

He is one of only two South Africans to secure four Olympic medals (the other is Tatjana Smith), and he has bagged seven medals at the World Aquatics Championships.

At those two events, considered the most prestigious at the highest level of international swimming, he hasn't stepped on the podium since 2019.
