Daybreak eyes revival

Daybreak Foods, one of South Africa's largest poultry producers, has reached another decisive stage in its business rescue process, with four shortlisted strategic equity partners (SEPs) now advancing through a binding bid phase.

Following the conclusion of the expressions of interest round, Park Village Auctions (PVA) - acting as transaction advisor - confirmed that the selected bidders are actively engaged in due diligence, including virtual data room review, physical site inspections and in-depth sessions with management and the business rescue team.

Tebogo Maoto, senior business rescue practitioner for Daybreak Foods, reports that capital injection and proven turnaround expertise are primary criteria for selecting a winning partner, alongside extensive poultry sector experience and transformation credentials. Preference is being shown for parties aiming to acquire or partner with the business as a whole, rather than piecemeal divisions.
