Sun shines for charity runners

This week saw our highly-anticipated and aptly named Sunshine Run 5K! After months of planning we were proud to deliver another successful event as we welcomed nearly 400 runners to Newcastle Quayside - a record for this race.

While the evening was a little bit cloudy (after a day of scorching sun), our runners came out in full force to #PaintTheTOONYellow and spread sunshine through their bright T-shirts and cheery smiles. There was a great atmosphere all evening and the crowds brought with them fantastic energy.

This was the 22nd year of our Sunshine Run and for the 5th year in a row, it was sponsored by our friends at Stagecoach, who brought with them a team of runners, many of whom will also be taking on the Great North Run for us in September. Our sponsor's team ranged from seasoned athletes to complete beginners, including Shaun Anderson, Assistant Operations Manager at the Slatyford depot, who before this event, “had never even ran for a bus before”
