JOHN Gray (letters, January 2) appears to confuse an objective description with a personal insult.

To argue that human activity is not driving climate change, as he does, is the very definition of "climate denial" and so an accurate reflection of his stated views. On the other hand, calling people an "imbecile" is a personal slur. Especially when they have made valid statements.
