JANINE DIED JUST DAYS AFTER HER DAD'S DEATH
A MUCH-LOVED Whitley Bay mum who "had a one liner for everything" has died after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Janine Turnbull was diagnosed with the condition in September last year, but had noticed her body's gradual decline since May 2023.
In the 11 months since her diagnosis, her family and friends have raised more than £29,000 to fund research into a cure for the debilitating condition, with events like the Wellfield Wander - while another £17,000 was raised for essential adaptations to the family home.
Despite Janine's stoicism, resilience and refusal to let the disease define her, she passed away at home on Monday, August 4. Her older sister, Nicole Brown, paid tribute to the former police officer.
Nicole, 51, told the Chronicle: "She always wanted it to be not that she was living with MND, but that MND was living with her. She didn't want it to change her and although it absolutely changed her physical abilities, which was heartbreaking for all of us to watch, it didn't change who she was."
