SUNDERLAND are determined not to jeopardise the club's long-term future as they attempt to build a team capable of surviving in the Premier League.

The Black Cats secured their return to the top flight after an eight-year absence in last month's Sky Bet Championship play-off final and have spent the time since plotting to give head coach Regis Le Bris the strongest hand possible as he attempts to keep them there.

The Wearsiders have already broken their transfer record to secure the permanent signing of midfielder Enzo Le Fee, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Stadium of Light from Roma.

However, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has insisted there will be no wild spending.
