Sir Les knew how to exorcise Devils

HE was at Newcastle for only two seasons but became a legend - plundering 50 goals from 84 appearances in the famous Magpie black and white.
-
Les Ferdinand was one of the supreme Entertainers and when he departed he unquestionably left a large piece of his heart on Tyneside.
I worked with him again on stage at the 02 City Hall during the last week and the adulation from the audience was lasting and all-embracing.
Ferdie admitted his two seasons with us were the highlight of his long career and that thrashing Manchester United 5-0 at SJP was his most satisfying match ever. Now he is about to return for another Newcastle vs Man U Premier League shindig almost 30 years after he starred in that epic.
Sir Les will be back at the cathedral on the hill this Sunday behind the mic for Sky TV. He had joined us in our celebration at winning the first domestic trophy in 70 years doing the same Sky role at Wembley for United’s sensational Carabao Cup win over Liverpool and then was invited by the club to share a stage with his old partner Alan Shearer before 150,000 ecstatic Geordies on the Town Moor when the trophy came home.
