Serial shoplifter jailed for thefts and £1k damage

A wanted thief was found and jailed just four days after police issued a public appeal to find him.

Prolific shoplifter Anthony Pentland was given a community order and barred from every retail space in Longbenton and Forest Hall in July when he was made subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order.

He was also given a community order and banned from entering any Sainsbury’s store in the Northumbria Police force area.

However, the 38-year-old showed his disregard for the court by simply targeting shops just a few miles outside of Forest Hall and Longbenton and turning his attention from Sainsbury's to Aldi.
