Over 1,100 sign up for Skinny Dip to raise vital funds for Mind

Hundreds of naked swimmers enter the North Sea at dawn in The North East Skinny Dip 2023 at Druridge

The event returns to Druridge Bay for the 13th year in a row this month, raising money for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind.

In the 13 years since the dip was established, more than £160,000 has been raised for local mental health services. Organiser Jax Higginson hopes that this year's event will raise £25,000.

Jax, from Sunderland, and her partner have been supported by the region's mental health services and she sees this as an opportunity to give something back. And she says there's nowhere better for the event than the windswept beach south of Amble.
