Motorcyclist fighting for life

A MAN in his 20s is fighting for his life after a crash between a motorbike and wa car.

The man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after he was thrown from the Sur-Ron electric off-road motorbike when it collided with a car in Jarrow on Sunday.

Shaftesbury Avenue was closed for several hours due to the crash. Eyewitnesses said that an air ambulance had landed on a grassy area near Tams Bar shortly after midday.
