Knifeman's victim scarred for life in 'horrifying' attack

A KNIFEMAN left a man scarred for life by repeatedly slashing him after confronting his girlfriend for brushing past him in the street.

Scott Orr, of Westbourne Avenue, Walkergate, Newcastle, was originally charged with attempted murder but prosecutors accepted his guilty plea to wounding with intent.

He was jailed for four years and two months, with an extended licence period of a further three years, but his case has been referred to the Court of Appeal with a request made through the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how the victim had been out with his girlfriend and friends on October 23 last year and, having been to a gig in Byker, they were walking into Newcastle city centre to go for a few drinks.
