Jobs saved amid collapse of energy efficiency firm

JOBS have been saved in the North East amid the collapse of an energy efficiency company.

Cenergist, which had a base in Washington along with other UK and overseas sites, was tipped into administration by the £1.2m impact of a contractual dispute.

But £325,000 deal negotiated with managers of its water division has resulted in 84 jobs saved, including 42 in the region.

It sees managers Gary Copeland and Caroline Gray-Mason take control of the business via IFMD Limited, which was set up earlier this year. But 100 jobs have been lost elsewhere. Cenergist offered technology and consulting services, primarily to local authorities, and had a workforce of 180 in the UK.
