TERRIFYING ROBBERY AT THE VILLAGE CO-OP

- By DAVID HUNTLEY

A CRIMINAL armed with a kitchen knife stole cash and vapes from a Northumberland shop in a terrifying robbery.

Lee Dodds was drunk and under the influence of drugs when he carried out the robbery at a Coop earlier this year.

The 38-year-old walked up to the counter and pulled out a 12-inch blade before demanding cash.

After making off with the stolen goods, Dodds attacked a woman's car with a metal bar after he realised she had witnessed the crime and was following him.

Dodds, of Jobling Crescent, Morpeth, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court via link from HMP Durham to be sentenced for robbery, criminal damage, and possession of a knife. He had pleaded guilty to the offences.
