Airport services suspended for track renewals

FIVE-DAY CLOSURE FOR ESSENTIAL WORKS TO TAKE PLACE

METRO services will be suspended between Regent Centre and Airport for five days at the end of this month.

The closure is to allow for “essential investment in new track and associated equipment” at the Ponteland Road Metro bridge at Bank Foot.

The planned closure will see the 901 replacement bus run in place of trains from Wednesday, November 26 to Sunday, November 30, stopping at all Metro stations in the affected area.

The announcement comes days after the completion of works in North Tyneside, which saw the line closed between Benton and Wallsend for five days.
