Oyetola Seeks French Backing for Nigeria's IMO Council Bid

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has called on France to support Nigeria's bid for a seat in Category C of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council.

He made the request during a visit by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, to his office in Abuja on Wednesday.

The diplomatic engagement came as part of Nigeria's intensified campaign for the IMO Council seat and ahead of the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, where Oyetola will lead Nigeria's delegation on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
