Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing from the US retailer, parent Walmart paid $3.5 billion to buy shares in Flipkart from non-controlling parties, including co-founder Binny Bansal, and to pay some debts with select PhonePeowners. According to a July report, Tiger Global, Binny Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart, and Accel had all completely sold their shares in the e-commerce company to Walmart. According to the sources, Walmart is taking this action as part of its plan to get Flipkart ready for an IPO.
