Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the SpaDeX mission is named as "Bharatiya Docking Technology" because it is purely an indigenous mission and India is carrying out first such experiment related to docking technology.

SpaDeX: Indigenous mission reflecting 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' Vision, says Jitendra Singh

The Union MoS further stated that SpaDeX's mission very much aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat".

Addressing a press conference, Singh said, "The launch of the SpaDeX mission is one of the first experiments undertaken by India as far as the docking technology is concerned. It is a purely indigenous technology and that's why it's been appropriately named Bharatiya Docking Technology. That is very much in keeping with PM Modi's mantra for Aatmanirbhar Bharat..."

As the year 2024 is marking its end, Jitendra Singh said that the year 2024 has been a remarkable journey for the Indian Space sector.

Citing the example of India's first Solar Mission, Singh stated that the ADITYA mission, being a very ambitious mission for the Indian Space sector, entered into L1 point in January 2024, just three months after its launch.

Additionally, India observed its first-ever National Space Day within the first three months of the Modi government's third term.
