South academics tackle WASH & climate links

A significant academic gathering, the Global South Academic Conclave on WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Climate Linkages, took place from 2nd to 4th February 2024 at CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Hosted by the Center for Water and Sanitation (CWAS) at CRDF, in collaboration with the Faculty of Planning at CEPT and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the conclave attracted over 350 academics and professionals from 30 countries. Additionally, 700 participants joined virtually, contributing to discussions on the intersection of water, sanitation, hygiene, and climate change.

Throughout the event, which featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, paper and poster presentations, and academia roundtables, participants explored themes such as climate mitigation, adaptation, WASH-climate policies, climate finance, and inclusivity in infrastructure services. Partner sessions by organizations like IWA, ITN-BUET, ASCI, UMC, and NFSSM Alliance enriched the dialogue with diverse perspectives and insights.
