Nanded, renowned for the Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurudwara, holds a distinct place in Sikhism, built in 1837 at the site where the 10th Sikh Guru, Gobind Singhji, breathed his last in 1708.

Nanded: A political citadel that shaped Maharashtra's leadership

However, its political significance is equally noteworthy.

The father-son duo of Shankarrao B. Chavan and Ashok S.Chavan made history by serving as Chief Ministers of Maharashtra on different occasions, spanning two generations of a single political dynasty.

Since 1952, Nanded has predominantly elected Congress Lok Sabha candidates 13 times, with occasional victories for other parties like the BJP, Scheduled Castes Federation, Janata Party, and Janata Dal.
