Karnataka High Court to consider whether POCSO Act is gender-neutral or not, stays proceedings against women accused of sexually assaulting minor

The Karnataka High Court stated that considering the case against a woman, it would have to determine whether the law is gender-neutral.

The court stayed further proceedings in a POCSO Act case registered against a 52-year-old woman based on a complaint from the parents of a minor boy.
The court expressed shock, stating it was the first time they had encountered such a case.
A single bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna granted an interim stay on further proceedings against the petitioner woman.
The court directed the prosecution to file its reply to the petition.
