In June 2023, retail inflation for both farm workers and rural labourers in India saw a marginal increase compared to the previous month.

Inflation for farm, rural workers inches up

The All-India Consumer Price Index Number for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) rose by 10 points to reach 1,196 points, while the Consumer Price Index Number for Rural Labourers (CPI-RL) also increased by 10 points, reaching 1,207 points. In May 2023, the CPIAL and CPI-RL were 1,186 points and 1,197 points, respectively.

The point-to-point inflation rate, based on the CPIAL and CPI-RL, stood at 6.31 per cent and 6.16 per cent in June 2023, compared to 5.99 per cent and 5.84 per cent in May 2023, and 6.43 per cent and 6.76 per cent in June 2022.
