The UN Operation in Congo (ONUC) further illustrated India's peace-keeping credentials. India deployed thousands of peacekeepers to help restore peace in Congo following its independence from Belgium. Indian peacekeepers played a vital role in stabilizing the situation, helping to mediate between various factions and prevent the conflict from escalating. This mission reinforced India's commitment to peacekeeping and its reputation as a reliable partner in maintaining global security.

Building through Development Partnerships: In addition to traditional peacekeeping efforts, India has focused on peacebuilding through development initiatives.

Development Cooperation with Africa: India's partnership with African countries is rooted in the belief that economic development is integral to achieving peace. India's development assistance to African countries has been wide-ranging, covering areas such as infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and agriculture. One of India's notable contributions to Africa is the Pan-African e-Network Project, which connects all 53 African Union nations with India for tele-education and telemedicine services. This initiative has not only helped improve access to education and healthcare in Africa but has also fostered closer ties between India and the continent.
