Experts in the aviation industry have highlighted the enormous potential of India’s aviation market, citing a growing middle class and a young population with a greater inclination to travel as contributing factors. The privatisation of airports in India has also been noted as a significant boost to the aviation sector, with substantial investments being made in new and existing airports across the country.
During the Indian Travel Congress 2023 held in Colombo, industry leaders such as Nipun Aggarwal from Air India, Pieter Elbers from IndiGo, Richard Nuttall from SriLankan Airlines, and Amitabh Khosla from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in India discussed the positive outlook for the aviation and tourism sectors. Despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, both sectors have displayed resilience and are on a path to recovery.
