IIT MADRAS INAUGURATES FIRST INTERNATIONAL CAMPUS IN ZANZIBAR

The academic year 2023-24 saw the opening of the ITT Madras Zanzibar Campus, with the first semester starting in October 2023

In the presence of Tanzanian politicians, Indian dignitaries, staff, and students, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, officially opened The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Zanzibar on Monday at the Zanzibar campus. The first-ever international IIT campus is the IIT Madras Zanzibar. The Indian government launched a historic attempt to introduce the country’s excellent educational system to a global audience. According to an official statement by IIT Madras, in the first batch at IIT Madras Zanzibar, women comprise 40 per cent of the total students admitted to the BS and MTech programs in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
