BJP's Praveen Khandelwal expects Diwali trade to cross Rs 5 lakh crore

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Praveen Khandelwal on Monday projected that trade during this Diwali season is expected to surpass Rs 5 lakh crore.
Highlighting the rising demand for made-in-India products and recent significant relaxations in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, Khandelwal expressed optimism about the festive trade. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Diwali is a major festival not only for Delhi but for the entire country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings to the nation, wishing everyone a happy Diwali. Given the recent surge in markets, increased demand for swadeshi products, and the substantial relaxation in GST, we expect this Diwali trade to cross Rs S lakh crore. This marks a step forward in realizing the vision ofa self-reliant India that PM Modi has championed.”
The festive optimism comes as traders and businesses gear up fora surge in consumer spending, buoyed by government reforms and the growing preference for domestic products.
