Bhutan earns 'outstanding destination' status for Chinese travelers

In a noteworthy development, Bhutan has firmly established itself as an exceptional travel destination in the burgeoning Chinese market, marking a significant milestone as the country clinched the prestigious “Outstanding Destination Excellence Award.”

This accolade was conferred upon Bhutan at the 18th Golden Award of The National Geographic Traveler, a renowned international travel magazine highly regarded in China, according to a report by Bhutan Live.

The achievement is particularly significant as it marks the first time Bhutan has received such an honor in the Chinese travel market. The award ceremony took place in December of the previous year, recognizing Bhutan’s allure as a destination that seamlessly blends deep cultural immersion with a strong commitment to environmental awareness.

Director General of the Department of Tourism, Dorji Dhradhul, emphasized the global impact of China as a major contributor to global tourism and the significance of being associated with National Geographic, an iconic institution synonymous with landscapes, cultures, and the marvels of our planet.
