BCCI releases media rights tender for India matches

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a significant step by issuing a tender for media rights for both international and domestic cricket matches played in the country.

This move comes as the existing media rights deal with Disney Star, which was signed in 2018 for a five-year cycle worth Rs 6,138 crore, nears its end. The new tender document is available for purchase until August 25, and BCCI is expecting a substantial increase in the value of the media rights.
BCCI’s optimism is based on the immense popularity and viewership of cricket in India. Cricket is not just a sport but a religion in the country, with a massive fan base that spans across all age groups and regions. This makes the broadcasting rights for cricket matches highly lucrative for media companies, who are eager to tap into this vast and engaged audience.
