Killed in the accident were Dionelo Solano, 66, a lay minister, his friend Gilven Tanique, a barangay tanod, and Daynah Plohinog, a college student of La Consolation College-Bacolod and a resident of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

In a press briefing on Saturday, April 19, Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City police director, said that 14 of the 17 injured, including one of the four Indian passengers of the red Toyota Innova, are confined in three separate private hospitals here, while the two policemen sustained minor injuries.

At least 300 individuals were attending a procession and were on their way back to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Shrine when the accident happened at 7:20 p.m.

A tricycle overtook the procession due to an emergency, as Plohinog, who was one of the youth parishioners, fell unconscious.
