Thanuja, Kameshwar in neck-and-neck race

The under-15 sub-juniors proved to be a two-horse race with Shreya Krishna of Tamil Nadu and local girl Lahiri Kommaravelly battling it out neck-and-neck in all three races, finishing within a whisker of each other in the 16th Monsoon Regatta at Hussain Sagar Lake here on Monday, which saw 18-20 knot winds typical of the monsoon.

In the first two races, Lahiri led till the last two legs, only to be beaten to the finish by Shreya. In the last race, Shreya was tightly challenged throughout, but she led from start to finish, with Lahiri close behind, unable to cut the lead.
