Three North East ambulance workers abused every day

Ambulance workers in the North East were subjected to more than 1,200 violent, aggressive and abusive incidents last year, new figures show.

Data from the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) show North East Ambulance Service staff faced 1,257 physical or verbal attacks in the year to March - more than three a day.

The number of incidents was 880 in the previous year and the highest figure since records began.
