Museum makes sure prom-goers can have a ball

More than 100 prom dresses and suits have been donated for the Fans Museum SEND ball.

Earlier this year, the museum in Monkwearmouth teamed up with Sunderland College, with whom they already work closely, to announce a prom for its SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) students this June.

But with proms a notoriously expensive night out, they needed Sunderland's help.

Fans Museum founder Michael Ganley and the team launched an appeal for people to donate any unwanted gowns and suits - and they were inundated.

In total, more than 100 outfits have been dropped off to the museum or the Fans Museum shop in Durham ahead of the prom, which takes place on June 25.
