A new study has revealed which areas in the UK workers face the highest commute costs.
The study, conducted by price comparison site, WhatPrice.co.uk analysed ONS and FuelMap data to assess which areas in the UK workers are spending the most money on getting to work each month.
1 Aberdeenshire - £49.98 a month
Aberdeenshire is the most expensive place in the UK for commuters.
The average travel distance to work is 10.8 miles - the furthest in the UK and with the average price of petrol in the area being 132.40p, the monthly cost to get to and from work in Aberdeenshire is £49.98.
2. Braintree - £49.37 a month
The Colchester town spends £1.23 per trip to work in petrol. Over a month, this equates to £49.37 per month when travelling the average distance of 10/5 miles. Out of all the locations in the East of England, Braintree has the most expensive commute.
3. Shropshire - £48.22 per month
