SOUL JOURNEY

- with MAHESH BANG

Q: I religiously do my daily prayers, but I still get angry very quickly. What should I do? I noticed that the full moon also affects me. I become very hyper during the full moon.

A: Keep doing your routine prayers. Besides that you should start doing “Om meditation”. It will definitely improve your memory and. make you calmer. Read the following in detail:

1. “Om - The Absolute Sound”. Om (Aum) is one of the most sacred sounds in the Sanskrit language. It is said to be the sound, or vibration, of the universe itself. Science has shown us that all of life is made up of energy (vibration); from the smallest particle to the movement of galaxies. Mind expanding experts have passed on the knowledge that, if one were to step outside of the universe and listen in, “Om” would be the hum or the pulsation that was heard.

2. “Chanting Om” should be slow and when recited properly, it will naturally bring you into a meditative state. Remember you are not just reciting a sound or phrase, you are creating a vibration within the body, mind and soul. There are many ways and methods of chanting Om.

One can do “Om chanting” in the following method:

The approximate time for chanting an Om (AUM) mantra is 10 seconds. Here is a breakdown to help you.

@A - 2.5 seconds (pronounced “oo”), with rounded open lips.

@ U - 25 seconds, partially close the lips.
