Woman fighting for life after suspected A19 hit and run

TWO men have been arrested after a suspected hit and run on the A19 left a woman with serious injuries.

The victim was said to have been driving a Volkswagen T-roc between the Silverlink Roundabout and Holystone, in North Tyneside, at around 10.40pm on Friday, when she overtook a stationary vehicle on the side of the road.

While performing that manoeuvre, her car has been in a collision with a Skoda Fabia. The driver of the Skoda Fabia did not stop at the scene, Northumbria Police said.

Police, paramedics and a crew from the Great North Air Ambulance attended the incident and the woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary having sustained serious injuries.
