Retail park expansion set to create 300 jobs

THE expansion of a retail park in County Durham is set to create hundreds of new jobs and attract national retailers.

The second phase of the Bishop Auckland Retail Park was given the green light by a planning committee on Wednesday.

The plans include four new retail units and additional car parking spaces, situated to the west of the existing site.

Retailers such as The Range, Home Bargains, PureGym, Greggs, TUI, Superbowl UK, a gaming facility and Popeyes are already trading at the location, with a cinema set to open next year. Several eateries are also operational.

An estimated 300 jobs are anticipated to be generated through the second phase of the retail park project.
