Raider stole tools from venue while event took place

A BURGLAR who stole £2,000 of tools from a popular Northumberland wedding venue has avoided jail.

Gary Summerville and two accomplices drove in his mobility vehicle to Northside Farm, in Horsley, before breaking into an outbuilding while a wedding was taking place.

The 49-year-old was then captured on CCTV helping to load drills, saws, strimmers, nail guns, angle grinders and a battery pack into the boot of his Vauxhall Corsa before driving off, a court heard. He was identified from camera footage and arrested two days later at the Shell garage at Newcastle International Airport.

Summerville, of Gorse Hill Way, in Blakelaw, previously pleaded guilty to one count of burglary of a non-dwelling and the case was adjourned until this week for sentence.
