Ratcliffe's United road trip is just like a scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles-a disaster leaving one blind alley to turn into a cul-de-sac

Is this Sir Jim Ratcliffe's big plan to transform the fortunes of Manchester United?

It has been one year since he handed over £1.25billion for a say in how things are run at Old Trafford and it has been 12 months of chaos.

When he assumed control of football matters, the chemicals magnate set out his vision for ‘a great journey’.

It’s been the footballing equivalent of Steve Martin and John Candy's film ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’

One disaster after another - leaving one blind alley only to turn down a cul-de-sac.

In little more than a year, Ratcliffe has proved himself to be every bit as inept as the despised owners, the Glazers. In fact, it's worse than that.

He has paid a fortune for a say in the running of the club but has no overall control.

He sanctioned a £140million investment in players last summer only to claim Manchester United were running out of liquid funds and needed a £300m cash injection three months later.

Never mind anything else, that’s bad business practice - ever heard of a cash flow, Jim?
