Students fuel low-alcohol boom

STUDENTS are fuelling a growing trend for no and low-alcohol drinks.

Areas that are home to high concentrations of undergraduates and young professionals are the most likely to embrace the trend to cut back on booze, research suggests.

It adds to growing evidence that Generation Z those born during the late 1990s and early 2000s are shunning the sauce for health or money reasons.

The top 10 areas with the highest proportion of alcohol-free drinkers include London districts such as Battersea, Clapham, Southwark and Hackney.

Edinburgh which has four universities Coventry South and Bradford West also made the list.
