Dad and son handed $12,000 bill after lashing out at officials

A FATHER and son who lashed out at fisheries officers who asked to see their licences have been handed a hefty £12,000 court bill.

Anglers Sidney Bowman, 75, and Andrew Bowman, 44, both of Cross Place, Dudley, attacked two Environment Agency officers who had asked for their names and addresses.

Dad Sidney poked one in the eye after his son thumped the officer in the face in an assault which was all caught on camera.

The ordeal only ended when police arrived at the scene.

Sidney admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and one count of fishing without a licence.

He was ordered to pay an £806 fine, a £322 victim surcharge and £4,000 costs.
