ONE-LEGGED CRICKETER HAS HIS BENEFITS AXED AFTER DWP FILMED HIM

Shaun Rigby, 37, who previously played for the England disabled cricket team, began playing cricket as a seven-year-old lad. Despite losing his leg below the knee in a horrific tractor accident at just two years old, he refused to let his disability hinder him.

With the assistance of a runner and an umpire holding his crutch, Shaun still manages to play twice a week for Allcott Heath Cricket Club in Shropshire.

However, the married father-of-four was shocked when the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) informed him that it had initiated an investigation into his disability claim and had been secretly observing him for weeks.

They surreptitiously filmed him batting for his local team and used the undercover footage as proof that he 'wasn't disabled enough.' As a result, the Government has now halted Shaun's Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefits and confiscated his mobility car.

Shaun, who works full-time as a sheet metal worker, has been receiving PIP since 2016 due to his disability. Three years ago, he was also provided with a Motability car to assist him in getting around after he started experiencing additional pain in his knee and back.
