Mum died in homeless hostel, still fearing she would be jailed
THE son of a postmistress who died penniless in a homeless hostel after being falsely accused of theft has warned the Post Office he will never stop fighting for justice.
Daryl Wallace said his mum Fiona McGowan's death would not be forgotten as he vowed to make the organisation answer for their actions.
It comes after Public Inquiry chair Sir Wyn Williams last week published his interim report into the scandal which saw hundreds of innocent people accused of stealing from their branches.
Some were prosecuted while others had to repay thousands they had never taken due to the faulty Horizon computer system.
Sir Wyn's report laid bare the suffering of victims and their families and recommended that sub-postmasters and their close relatives are compensated.
Daryl, 29, said: "I hope this will now help myself and my siblings get somewhere.
"What happened to our mum and then to our family is absolutely shocking.
They are dragging things out in the hope victims will give up or in some cases people could drop off before they get any compensation or answers.
