Ibrox gaffer's on the brink after his flops make it five without a win in the league
-
RUSSELL MARTIN said this was the game that would kickstart Rangers' season.
But after defeat to Hearts at Ibrox it might end his as gaffer.
A Lawrence Shankland double ensured Rangers still can't find a win in the Premiership.
They've now taken just four points out of a possible 15 and the manager's future is under serious scrutiny.
Almost the entire stadium told the head coach where to go in no uncertain terms.
His side were booed off at halftime and again at full-time as they toiled to create or score against Derek McInnes' men.
In contrast, the Jambos were terrific and deserved the points.
The win took them clear at the top of the table, with Derek McInnes enjoying victory at his former club.
Shankland - so often touted for a move to Rangers - buried a chance after 20 minutes to put the Jambos in front.
After the break Martin's team improved slightly, with Djeidi Gassama hitting the post and Derek Cornelius seeing a debut goal chalked off for a push.
But Shankland made sure of the points, tucking away the rebound when his penalty had been saved by Jack Butland, after Mo Diomande had tripped Harry Milne in the penalty area.
That sent the travelling fans wild as the home crowd turned on their beleaguered manager after yet another horrendous result and performance.
