Trainer's son wins race to bring owner a poignant victory

MILLIONS watched an out-of-this-world finish in the Grand National - as 33-1 outsider Nick Rockett raced to a bittersweet victory.

Tears flowed as the Willie Mullins-trained horse - ridden by his amateur jockey son Patrick saw off last year's winner I Am Maximus at the last.

Owner Stewart Andrew bought the horse with wife Sadie, who died in December 2022 from cancer, just days after seeing its debut run.

At Aintree yesterday, Stewart hoisted Patrick on his shoulders as they headed to the winner's enclosure, where he received a cheque for £500,000.
