Mikael’s new deal boosts Buds’ Euro hopes
IT might not be enough to catch the eye of Scotland boss Steve Clarke.
But right now, the only gaffer Mikael Mandron has to impress is Stephen Robinson.
After bagging St Mirren’s winner against Aberdeen to justify a new Buddies contract, his boss will be more than happy with his contribution.
Mandron’s stunning second-half touch and finish made it three wins in a row for the Saints over the Dons for the first time since 2011.
It also kept alive his side's European hopes as they closed the gap on Dundee United above them to five points, ahead of a must-win clash at Tannadice next week.
Mandron is eligible to play for Scotland and hinted last week he'd be keen on a call-up.
At 30, it’s unlikely Clarke will pick up the phone to the French-born forward ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
But club boss Robinson is delighted with Mandron's form.
He said: "Mikael is very composed and he leads the line really well for us.
