Minister: Free TV is essential

Labour vow eases fears over traditional channels

TRADITIONAL telly channels must always be available to all despite the rise of streaming, say Labour.

Sir Chris Bryant spoke out amid concerns for those who can't afford or understand internet services.

The culture minister said: “We have to make sure everybody is able to have free-to-air television.”

The current system of tuning into radio and TV via aerials is only secure until licences expire around 2034.
