McLaren talking up Oscar winner

McLAREN are adamant flailing championship leader Oscar Piastri can stop the rot as Max Verstappen piles on the pressure.

The four-time champion has taken 64 points more than his Aussie rival over the last four race weekends to leave himself 40 behind ahead of today's Mexico City Grand Prix.

Momentum is with Verstappen while Piastri, 24, hasn't finished ahead of either the Red Bull racer nor teammate Lando Norris in any race since winning the Dutch Grand Prix in August.

But McLaren team principal Andrea Stella remains confident his leading driver can snap out of his shaky spell.

He said: “When we look at the last four races, there's more we could have done.
