MAX AARONS revealed a major motivation for moving to Rangers was to keep alive his England ambitions.

- BY FRASER MACKIE

The fullback was flop boss Russell Martin's first signing on loan from Bournemouth and Aarons' struggles typified the axed gaffer's disastrous reign.

The 25-year-old could soon have one of England's so-called 'olden generation as his new manager - in the form of Steven Gerrard.

Asked if he can earn a call-up from Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel, Aarons said: "I'll always believe that, as it's a dream of mine.

"That feeling will never leave and that was a big factor in joining Rangers.

"I came here believing I could make a big impact.

"Ultimately, you'll never get a call-up if you're not playing and that's what I'm focused on.
