Rodgers can claim glory title .. or else board face backlash

- HUGH KEEVINS

FOLKLORE OR FURORE

THERE'S no need to ask for a second opinion or a diagram to be drawn.

Brendan Rodgers handed in his notice on Friday afternoon.

It wasn't a press conference stunt to hold a gun against the head of who's responsible for Celtic's unfathomable recruitment policy.

Or a desperate attempt to encourage significant activity on that front when, until now, the inertia has been on a catatonic scale from the club's alleged movers and shakers.

Rodgers doesn't need to issue threats in a subtle or brutal fashion.

Celtic need him more than he needs Celtic.

And he's had enough.

There's more chance of me being Hoops manager next season and it would serve them right if they got me.

How can Rodgers have entered the final season of his three-year contract and not have been made a new offer?

Does anyone have an idea who would be a better manager than Rodgers?

If so, I'd be delighted to hear it and so would the supporters who won't accuse the Irishman of leaving them hanging in midair this time for the simple reason that they're as disillusioned with their club's hierarchy as he is.

It is now all about the nature of the manager's exit strategy.

Starting from today with the home match against St Mirren, it's folklore or furore so far as Rodgers is concerned.

Entry into Celtic folklore comes with the winning of league title No.56.
