MORE than 880,000 elderly people will begin receiving their first pension age winter heating payment from the Scottish Government in November, the Sunday Mail can reveal.

Date is set for OAPs' winter warmer cash

Those in receipt of a state pension will get between £101.70 and £305.10 to help them keep warm.

Social Justice Secretary, Shirley-Anne Somerville said: "At least 880,000 pensioners in Scotland are estimated to benefit from the payment.
